In a bit of a departure from the usual content of this blog, I’m very glad to announce the immediate availability of 14 new, unique and atmospheric, hand-made patches for the Korg minilogue xd.
Here’s the (included) README:
The Goting Sound Set for the Korg minilogue xd
What is it?
It’s a collection of 14 patches I programmed on my trusty Korg minilogue xd synthesizer while I was spending time on the north sea island of Föhr, Germany, gathering inspiration for the next album of my solo studio project „Schall und Stille“.
I used the sounds to compose quite a lot of new demos while staying on the island, refining and expanding the patches as I went along.
The patches themselves are provided in MIDI Sysex („.syx“) and Korg’s proprieatry xdlib format. Most of them respond very well to dynamic playing. They all have a somewhat nautical/existentialist theme, but of course you can make of them whatever you will.
Sounds great! What’s the licence?
You’re welcome to use the patches in whatever way you like. You’re however NOT allowed to sell them or claim you made them. If you redistribute these sounds, please distribute this unmodified README.md with them.
Um… what’s the catch? I mean, why don’t you sell the sounds? Like in „for money“? Why don’t you require me to sit through flashy youtube clips stuffed with annoying ads and affiliate links? What’s going on here?! Are you crazy?
Sorry, but I come from a time when the internet was about sharing and the free exchange of ideas. Although I realize it’s all gone and broken now, I still quite like the idea. That’s why.
So, no catch?
No, no catch. I don’t even require you to listen to my current album, „The Drunken Fisherman (and other stories)“ (although of course it would be really nice and fair if you did).
If you like what I did, you’re of course welcome to drop me a line at stephan@ubisonic.de
